Melting Myth - Gong Yining & Sun Aijia (China)

Artwork description

When artificial objects first stood abruptly on the natural plains, as our civilization spread and grew, plants responded to us in their own way. They have climbed our civilization and redrawn our development’s traces gently but also powerfully. Nature and industry are entangled with each other in an irreversible trend. Perhaps they are no longer the relationship between shaping and being shaped, but the tenderness of embracing and being embraced. The work explores the increasingly melted boundaries between nature and industry through documentation and experimentation, reflecting and imagining possible future scenarios for them.

Modern household plant culture matrix is mixed with a large number of industrial and even household decoration materials, at this time, the soil is no longer natural soil, man-made products are not a threat to nature, forming a synthetic nature from daily life. The eco-friendly and ecological materials we now see are often designed to be easily degradable, while in reality, the mixed state becomes every day and even better. The work tries to provide a new perspective to face the deep symbiosis of artificial and nature that invades the daily life, plant and construction between the human body and the possibility of a symbiotic relationship, by putting the intellisense, synthetic materials and the combination of plant breeding, create wearable device attached to the body, people plant symbiotic sustainable power cycle system, The behaviour of the body becomes the kinetic energy of plant irrigation, and the cultivation of plants can bring natural energy such as emotion regulation for human beings.
